Job Description:
- Operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply protective coatings and paints to fabricated utility piping and structural steel material.
Duties:
- Select the appropriate paint or mix paints according to a predetermined formula per manufacture and or customer specifications
- Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, and or sandblast to remove corrosion, otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings
- Operate spray, dip, and flow coating equipment or other painting or product coating equipment as required
- Paint small and large items and apply touch-ups
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment
- Prepare and apply stencils as required to finished products
- Take environmental reading prior to and during the painting and coating process
- Ability to fill out and coordinate paperwork flow
- Direct one or more helpers
- Operate overhead cranes and or forklifts
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking and climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain)
- Frequent lifting (up to and including 50 pounds)
- Frequent bending, twisting and standing
- Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required
Education:
- Vocational technical training is desired
- Ideal candidates should have certifications in, NACE, SSPC, KTA Tator or other industrial Painting Certificate
- 3+ years experience is desired
- Knowledge of above ground and below ground coatings system
Other Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have valid driver’s licenses
